Land Commission to be formed in Jharkhand: Hemant Soren

Jamshedpur: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said the state government was considering plans to form a land commission in the state so that the land of the poor people could not be transferred or usurped through fraud.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of Sona Sobran Dhoti Sari Scheme at Gandhi Maidan, Chaibasa. He inaugurated seven road projects worth over Rs 200 crore besides inaugurating the Tantnagar-Majhgaon road built at an expense of Rs 38.81 crore.

Addressing the gathering, the CM said the state government was committed to develop industries in Jharkhand and pass on its benefits to the people of the state.

He said he was in favour of allowing more and more investors to set up factories in Jharkhand provided the land owners were given adequate benefits in lieu of land acquisition.

Soren handed appointed letters to 38 members of displaced families for jobs in ACC factory besides giving the appointment letters to 14 teachers selected for Kasturba Gandhi Girls School.

As many as 83 people were given benefits of National Family Benefit Scheme, 25 under Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Scheme, 9 under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Scheme, 11 under Old Age Social Security Pension Scheme and 12 under Sona Sobran Dhoti Sari Scheme.

The CM said not a single person had been given employment in the ACC factory after displacement of a large number of families during the setting up of the factory. He said the state government had made sincere efforts to get jobs for 38 members of displaced families.

He said problems were numerous in the state and that they could be solved in a planned manner. He further said that the water crisis in the state could be resolved through water conservation at small scale. �Building big dams is not the only solution to the problem of water crisis,� he said.

Soren said the Sona Sobran Dhoti Sari Scheme had proved to be a boon for the poor people who did not have adequate clothes to cover themselves.

Among others present at the programme included MLA of Chaibasa Deepak Birua, commissioner of Kolhan Alok Goyal, DIG of Kolhan Mohammad Nehal, DC of West Singhbhum Abu Bakr Siddiqui, ADC Ajit Shankar and DDC Chandrashekhar Prasad.
