Jamshedpur: Lafarge India�s Jojobera Cement Plant organized the closing ceremony of Health and Safety Month 2014.
The theme for this year�s Health and Safety Month �Full Ownership and Discipline in Execution� highlighted the importance of being committed to personally engage and care for each other, being open to giving and receiving feedback and having uncompromising attitude towards zero incidents.
Madhumita Basu, Marketing Head, Lafarge Cement, Ramesh Warke, vice president, Jojobera Cement Plant, Rakeshwar Pandey, president, Lafarge India Employees Union (LIEU), Vinay Trivedi, deputy president LIEU, Bijay Khan, general secretary LIEU and Sanjeev Srivastava, secretary LIEU along with senior officers, contractor employees and family members were present on the occasion. A short play on safety was organized by the employees on the plant premises.
During the month of June a blood donation camp was organized by the Lafarge Jojobera Cement Plant team and supported by Indian Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur. A total of 206 units of blood were collected at the camp.
Besides the blood donation camp, various other events were organized. They included a health check up camp for drivers, drivers� mela, safety related quiz competition and drawing competition were also organized during the month. Safety awareness programmes for school children were organized and prizes were distributed to the winners of the different competition.
In his address Ramesh Warke, vice president, Jojobera Cement Plant iterated that Health and safety is the core value at Lafarge and there is no shortcut to Safety.
He also emphasized that all efforts should be made to strengthen the safety culture in order to achieve the company�s goal of zero accident. He also thanked all employees, local communities, drivers, family members and also the children for participating in the Health and Safety Month events and for making them a success.
