Lack of adequate knowledge of cyber space harmful: SD Tripathi

Jamshedpur, April 18: SAFE and Corporate Safety department of Tata Steel jointly conducted a seminar on �Cyber Security and Cyber laws� for school children today at TMDC, Jamshedpur.

In an age where digitalization is fast growing, both as a concept as well as in practice, Tata Steel took up the responsibility to generate awareness regarding cyber security and various laws not only among the youngsters but parents as well.

The seminar began with the opening speech of Mrs Ruchi Narendran , Chairperson , SAFE where she briefed about ignorance of people on the crimes that take place in the cyber space.

Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Vice President, HRM, Tata Steel who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, complimented the organizer for taking up such an important social issue. While addressing the gathering he stressed upon the problems faced by people due the lack of adequate knowledge of cyber space. He also drew a comparison between the time when there was no intrusion of World Wide Web (WWW) and the present age.

Shyam Sunder, Chief Corporate Safety, Tata Steel introduced the keynote speakers for the day who were Major Sandeep Sangwan, a trained army officer and a certified Security Practitioner from IISSM, Delhi and Col. R.S Gadhok, Trainer and Facilitator PGDM (Symbiosis).

Major Sandeep Sangwan spoke about the safety measures that an individual should take while working online. He enlightened the audience on various issues such as defamation, financial and credit/debit card frauds, Cyber terrorism and child pornography. Apart from this, he also alerted the gathering on issues like recognizing the authenticity of a website, the disadvantages of giving personal information on social networking sites etc.
Col R.S Gadhok conducted the final session in which he spoke about leadership and safety.
