Kurmi Sena threatens stir against govt decision to release Nirmal Mahato’s killer

Jamshedpur: Kurmi Sena president Shailendra Mahato warned the state government against releasing Dhirendra Singh, serving life term in the murder of JMM’s founder Nirmal Mahato at Ghaghidih Jail, by commuting his sentence. He said the state government should maintain life sentence of Nirmal Mahato’s killer and show no mercy to him.

“It is beyond our imagination that the state government has decided to release the killer of Nirmal Mahato who sacrificed his life for a separate state of Jharkhand. The state of Jharkhand is indebted to Nirmal Mahato. It takes a lifetime to achieve what Nirmalda did. But sadly the state government has failed to realize this,” said Mahato.

Mahato said the Kurmi Sena had decided to wage a massive agitation all over Jharkhand in case the government goes ahead with its plan to release Dhirendra Singh. He said the outfit members will sit on dharna before the monument of Nirmal Mahato in Uliyan, Kadma on Gandhi Jayanti. An effigy of Chief Minister Raghubar Das will be burnt tomorrow, he said.

Kurmi Sena (Totemic) president Laltu Mahato and general secretary Narayan Mahato said the government’s decision would set Jharkhand on fire.
Jharkhand Moolvasi Adhikar Manch convenor Harmohan Mahato said the government should not release Dhirendra Singh.

Adivasi Kurmi Samaj president Prasenjit Mahato said the Kurmi community was hurt after government’s decision to release Dhirendra Singh.
