Jamshedpur, Sept 2: The Nagar Committee of Adivasi Kurmi Samaj Birsanagar Telco Nagar Committee convened a meeting at its office chaired by organization president Nirendra Nath Mahto. It was unanimously decided in the meeting that Karam Parb would be celebrated, as in earlier years, with ritualistic fervor.
Accordingly, seven days before Karam festival, on September 3, bachelorettes will perform with Purna Janjatiya Negachari Jaua Utha and Jaua Thapna with which the Karam Parb will commence. Following the ritualistic commencement of Karma Parb, the festivities will continue till September 8. Each evening will see the performance of Jaua Beda programmes with Jaua and Karam songs. Pata dance will also be performed along with the songs. On the occasion of Bhadar Mas Ekadashi on Monday, September 9, Purna Janjatiya Negachari Naiya Prakash Mahto Ketiar will plant the branch of a Karam tree and perform the traditional worship. This ritual will take place at Akhara Maidan in Telco Road # 18.
From 6:30 pm Dipak Mahto and his group from Chakulia will present Karam songs and perform Pata dance at the venue. The chief guest on the occasion will be parliamentarian Bidyut Baran Mahto while state minister Ram Chandra Sahis, former legislator Ramdas Soren, Surya Singh Besra, Astik Mahto, Hare Lal Mahto, Phani Bhushan Mahto, Bablu Mahto, Gopal Mahto, Sachin Mahto, Bhiku Mahto, Bhabataran Mahto and Ajay Mahto will grace the occasion as guests of honour.
