Jamshedpur, July 9: Accounts committee of Jharkhand Assembly has found several irregularities in the revenue collection of district�s mines along with Commercial tax, transportation and rural development department.
Committee was of the opinion that the district officers have not collected the revenues and have also not shown any interest.
On day two of the meet at Circuit House, Samiti held talks with District Commissioner and officers of several departments and ordered them to take necessary steps and fix the issue.
Later talking to the mediapersons, Stephen Marandi heading the committee said that there are several cases of revenue collection which are pending from last 10 years.
By doing this officers play role to save big companies, the departments have submitted their reports but most of them have submitted incomplete answer.
Marandi further said that some of them are in a position to drop the clause and that case can be dropped for which they have to apply to the head of the committee. Some of the departments have been told to submit the complete report to District headquarters.
At the meet members of the committee MLA Kunal Sarangi, MLA Irfan Ansari, MLA Gangotri Kujur, MLA Narayan Das and others were present.
Member of the committee and Bahragora MLA Kunal Sarangi said that the documents in which we have found irregularity we have ordered inquiry and have told to submit the report as early as possible.
We have said to provide information in those cases which are under inquiry, said Sarangi adding that we have recommended action against officers of Mines department who don�t show interest in revenue collection.
Questioning the tax collection in the sub-lease areas, Kunal said that Tata Steel fees from people living in the sub-lease areas but what is the amount they submit to the government, who audits it, no one has this information.
