Kunal Sarangi meets President in New Delhi

Jamshedpur, Sep 2: State BJP spokesperson and former Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi met President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Friday. He requested her to declare Lord Jagannath’s Rathyatra as a national holiday and issued a notification in this regard.

Sarangi said crores of Indians had deep faith in Lord Jagannath and they celebrated the festival every year with fervour not only in Odisha but also at other places including foreign countries. He also raised the issue of rising crime against women in Jharkhand and requested her to initiate stern action in this regard. He said the state government had miserably failed in containing crime and criminals. He said the state Women’s Commission had no chairperson for the last two years and many women’s cells in police stations were also vacant. As a result, cases of atrocities against women often go unreported and neglected, he said while requesting the President to take note of the situation.

Sarangi further requested the President to get the Chakulia-Badhamara railway line project started at the earliest. The President said she had discussed the issue with the Union Railway Minister, said Sarangi.
