Despite various career opportunities emerging in the field of education, engineering still rules the roost among the students of the city. Every year, the toppers of ISC and CBSE examinations feel that engineering from a premium institute that is Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is their only choice.

The Steel City has a fair track record of IIT. Every year about 300 students crack the IIT entrance examination, which is considered to be toughest in the country. The performance rate of the students can be gauged from the fact that Abhinav Kumar of Loyola School secured 1st All India rank during the 1996-1997.

Even this year students of the Steel City proved their merit in the IIT- JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). About 500 engineering aspirants out of 8000 from Jamshedpur qualified to appear in JEE Advanced.

City-based tutor Rajesh Tiwary that it has become crucial for a student here to select such a college and institute that help him to frame a successful professional career. He further added that the city has bright brains and a culture of technical education. This is the reason why every year scores of students crack IIT every year.
