Jamshedpur, June 6 : BJP leader and party’s Ulidih Mandal former president Niraj Singh who has been sentenced life imprisonment by district and sessions judge in February this year in Kulraj Singh murder case has been admitted at the MGM Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.
The 40-year-old Singh, who was also the BJP’s Ulidih Mandal president till his conviction in the murder case has been admitted at the surgery department of the medical college hospital after he was shifted from Ghaghidih Central Jail.
The murder case convict is complaining of infection in the intenstine and was subjected to various tests for pathological test for determination of the disease.
Jailer, Ghaghidih Central Jail, Mohammed Nasim confirmed about the shifting of the murder convict from the central jail to the medical college hospital.
“Though Singh was admitted at the Ghaghidih Jail’s hospital after pain in the abdomen two days ago. Despite treatment his pain did not subside. He was shifted to the medical college hospital this morning,” said the jailer.
A doctor of Ghaghidih Central Jail confirmed that Niraj Singh had been suffering from infection in the intenstine and might have been referred to the government hospital for better treatment.
The BJP activist was carried to the medical college hospital at about 11 am today. He was supposed to be taken to the hospital OPD, but as there was a strike by the doctors, all other departments, including the OPD were not functioning. As a result of it, the murder convict was taken to the hospital emergency and subsequently shifted to the surgery department.
An official at the MGM Medical College Hospital said the convict has been admitted in the unit of BK Singh, head of the department, Surgery and the necessary treatment will start from tomorrow only.
Kulraj (32) who was better known as Raju Singh was murdered on being shot by two bike-borne assailants near his house in Gurdwara Bustee in Bistupur in the morning of April 10, 2005.
In the case, Surya Patel and his wife have been convicted for conspiring the murder, where as Santoh and Niraj were shooters. Those convicted were identified as Surya Patel, wife Uma Patel, Santosh Agrawal alias Dhabu and Niraj Singh.
