Krida Bharati wins 5th Veterans Football Tournament

Jamshedpur: Krida Bharati defeated SSFC XI by 1 goal to 0 in the final to win the 5th Veterans Football Tournament 2017 conducted by Jamshedpur Veteran Sports Club. Damodar Bandra from Krida Bharati scored the only goal of the match.

The tournament held on October 22 was supported by sports department of Tata Steel.
Earlier, the teams were divided into two groups. In the semi finals- SSFC beat Agrico Health 2 � 0 where Abhijit Das and Arif scored a goal each.

In the second semis match- Krida Bharati defeated JVSC Masters 3�0 where Damodar Bandra scored 2 goals and Pratik scored one.

Total of 110 ex-footballers above 40 years of age participated. Each match was of 20 minutes conducted by JSA Referees Rohit Singh, Fatu Kisku and Dungu Mundiya. It was played on Knock out basis.

Avinash Kumar conducted the tournament and was supported by J Behera, V. Raman, Tilak Ram, S K Singh, Gautam Acharjee, Tejinder Singh, Nixon Kumar, R K Mishra and Arun Sinha.

The award for highest goal scorer was awarded to Damodar Bandra of Krida Bharati who scored total of 4 goals in the entire tournament.

The award for the best goal keeper was awarded to Sudipto Mazumdar of SSFC for total of 4 brilliant saves.

Chief Guest for the occasion was Md. Abbas alias Ramzan, ex-national footballer who played during 1953. He represented Md. Sporting Club, Bihar from 1957 to 1963 and played in Durand Cup, Riders Cup, IFA Shield and Bardoloi Trophy.

JVSC Club honoured the legend footballer Md. Abbas alias Ramzan. On the occasion Victor Somaya, Sr. Vice President of the Club and national boxer and football player awarded the champion footballer.

On the occasion Victor Somaya, P Mohan Rao, A K Gupta, Jujhar Singh, Sudam Majhi, Sheo Kumar, O S Ashok Kumar, B Anand Rao, S K Roy, Ashok Tudu, were present and many ex national footballers also participated.

On the occasion, one minute silent was observed in the memory of late ex-footballer K C Murmu, Bhada Hembram and Surai Tudu they all passed away last year.
