KPS Kadma triumphs at A.P. R. Nair Memorial Basketball tournament

Jamshedpur, Sep 9: The A.P. R. Nair Memorial Invitational Basketball Tournament 2024, held in honor of the late A.P. R. Nair, former chairman of Kerala Samajam, concluded with an exhilarating final at Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS). The two-day event, organized by Kerala Samajam and KSMS on September 6 and 9, witnessed participation from six schools across the city.

The tournament, hosted on the KSMS Basketball Court, began on September 6 with an opening ceremony led by Chief Guest K. Muralidharan, President of Kerala Samajam. The preliminary rounds, conducted in a knockout format, featured intense competition between boys’ and girls’ teams.

On September 9, the finals began at 6:00 p.m., with two exciting matches. In the girls’ final, RMS Khutadih secured victory over KPS Burmamines, emerging as champions, while KPS Burmamines finished as runners-up. The boys’ final saw KPS Kadma defeating KSMS to claim the title, leaving KSMS as the runners-up.

Individual honors were awarded to A. Sagar from KSMS as the Best Boy and Aditi from RMS Sonari as the Best Girl of the tournament.

The event was organized by school sports faculty members Deepak Jagan, Md. Shahbaz Khan, Anjani, and Jay Kumar. Distinguished attendees included K.P.G. Nair, Chairman of Kerala Samajam, Nandini Shukla, Principal of KSMS, along with Vice Principals Rina Banerjee, Sujata, and A.L. Abraham. Parents, teachers, and other members of the Kerala Samajam community were also present to cheer on the teams.
