KPS Kadma launches drive to clean ghat

Jamshedpur, Nov. 3: Scouts and Guides of Kerala Public School (KPS) Kadma launched cleanliness drive as part of the ‘Swachhata Pakhwara on Saturday. Ahead of the Sandhya (Evening) Argh, students cleaned the Chhath ghat near Ramjanam Nagar on November 2. The local residents also joined hands to clean litter from the area.

“Immersion of idols in the rivers increases the pollution level. The bank of the river Kharkai only shows waste and filth spilled all over. Chhath is a festival known for its hygiene and purity so there should be no place for garbage and filth near the ghats,” said a student. The noble effort of Scouts and Guides of Kerala Public School Kadma was appreciated by all.

One of the citizens said that people take bath in rivers and therefore it is essential that the cleaning work of these water bodies is completed on time. “The drive launched by the students is laudable and everyone should be involved in highlighting the importance of youth joining the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on the occasion of the festival of Chhath Puja, which is celebrated with gaiety and fervour by people of the city,” he added.
The team was led by teachers Vasanti Dev, Harilal Bhusal, Parmeshwar and Baljeet Kaur.
