KPS Gamharia and VIG English School clinch Volleyball Titles at Loyola School Jamshedpur

Loyola School hosts 1st Fr. Cecil Lemming Memorial Volleyball Tournament

Jamshedpur, April 6: KPS Gamharia (Girls) and VIG English School (Boys) emerged as the champions of the inaugural Fr. Cecil Lemming Memorial Volleyball Tournament, held at Loyola School Senior Ground on April 4 and 5. The high-voltage tournament saw 12 schools from across the city compete in both boys’ and girls’ categories, setting a powerful precedent for future inter-school sporting events.

The two-day tournament was more than a battle for victory—it was a celebration of grit, sportsmanship, and passion. Hosted by Loyola School in memory of the late Fr. Cecil Lemming, the event ignited a new chapter in the school’s sporting legacy.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Fr. Charles Pereira, S.J., former Rector and Provincial, whose inspiring words stirred the hearts of young athletes. Loyolean and rising sports star Raj Nandini Rana led the athletes in a solemn sportsman’s pledge, symbolizing a collective commitment to fairness, integrity, and competitive spirit.

Matches were fiercely contested, filled with thrilling rallies, strategic blocks, and spectacular saves that kept the audience on edge. The energy on the court and in the stands was electric, reflecting the deep-rooted passion for the game.

KPS Gamharia emerged as champions in the Girls’ Category, while JH Tarapore School secured the 1st Runners-up position, followed by DBMS English School as 2nd Runners-up.

In the Boys’ Category, VIG English School clinched the championship title, with KPS Gamharia finishing as 1st Runners-up and KPS Mango taking the 2nd Runners-up spot.

In the individual awards, Pushpa Marandi of KPS Gamharia was adjudged the Best Girl Player, while Ayush Kumar Singh from VIG English School was named the Best Boy Player of the tournament.

The tournament concluded with loud cheers and proud hearts, as trophies were handed over to the winners. More than just a competition, the event laid the foundation for a sporting tradition that promises to grow year after year. This is not just volleyball—this is Loyola, and this is legacy in the making.
