Kolhan University starts coaching centre for students

Jamshedpur : Kolhan University in collaboration with Tribal Cultural Society, Tata Steel has started a coaching centre at the boys’ hostel of Tata College, Chaibasa. The inauguration of the programme was held at the Tata College.

Shukla Mahanty, pro vice chancellor, Kolhan University; Urmila Ekka, manager, Tribal Cultural Society and others were present in the formal inauguration. The TCS (tribal Cultural Society has hired a city based coaching centre, to start classes at the Tata College.

The centre will help students who find it difficult in managing English and Mathematics of their curriculum and thus do not score well in the examination which hampers their job prospect.

There are already 35 students enrolled in the six months courses for various examination. Girls will not be taken as of now because the classes started in the boys hostel where the college administration has lend two rooms. The TCS has also extended its support for basic infrastructure like computer systems, table and chair.

TCS has also started a same project at Ghatshila College hostel a couple of months ago, which is handled by a Ghatshila based coaching centre. The classes will run five days a week from Monday to Friday for three hours in the evening.
