Jamshedpur : Kolhan University has decided to focus on developing sports talent in its colleges. At the 37th syndicate meeting of Kolhan University that took place in Chaibasa, the university decided to install necessary sports accessories for aspiring sports persons in respective colleges.
The meeting today was led by R.P.P. Singh, vice chancellor, Kolhan University along with pro vice chancellor, Ranjit Kumar Singh and other university officials and syndicate members.
It has also decided to centralise the sports material procurement process making it easier for colleges. The university has decided to finalise a single sports dealer that will cater to the needs of colleges across Kolhan.
Earlier colleges used to take a call that resulted in price differences of the required materials and accessories.
“We want to promote sports activities at various campuses. This is the reason why steps are being taken. Prior to this we have witnessed jerseys or any other material of the same quality brought at different prices.
Therefore, the university decided that all the tenders will be done by the university after collecting the requirements from colleges, so that there is no difference in price and the uniformity is maintained,” said A.K. Jha, proctor and spokesperson of Kolhan University.
The university will send directives to colleges on having a sports in-charge and organise round the year. A college is expected to groom talented students in respective fields.
During the meeting the university also approved Rs six lakh as the budget for the upcoming 4th Kolhan University Youth Festival to be hosted by Karim City College.
Moreover, the private B.Ed colleges were give affiliation for three consecutive years.
