Jamshedpur: New train services through Tatanagar railway station and other passenger amenities were at the centre of a host of demands raised by the MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato and Singhbhum MP Laxman Gilua before the South Eastern Railway authorities on Wednesday.
The MP duo met the GM at the SE Railway zonal headquarters, Garden Reach, with the view to raise and discuss several key demands of railway passengers from Tatanagar, Chaibasa and other parts of Kolhan.
The main demands are related to running a mono rail between Tatanagar to Barbil, starting a super fast AC train between Tatanagar and Howrah on the lines of Steel Express with proposed departure times from Tatanagar and Howrah stations at 8.30 am and 8.30 pm, starting trains from Howrah to Jaipur via Tatanagar, from Howrah to Jainagar via Tatanagar and a bi-weekly train from Tatanagar to Yeshwantpur.
The MP of Jamshedpur also demanded that a U-turn should be at the proposed railway overbridge near Jugsalai railway level crossing while the MP of Singhbhum demanded a halt for Utkal Express at Manoharpur.
The MP of Jamshedpur said a meeting of Zonal Railway Passengers Amenities Advisory Committee will be held in Howrah tomorrow.
He said the meeting will discuss rehabilitation of vegetable vendors and issues related to the welfare of porters at Tatanagar railway station and medical facility to railway employees of Tatanagar in Brahmanand Hospital.
