Kisan Samagam in Jharkhand’s  Kharsawan: Governor and  Arjun Munda lead Agricultural Initiative

Seraikela: Under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the Kisan Samagam unfolded at Gondpur Maidan in Kharsawan, echoing the theme “Developed Village-Developed India.” Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan and Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare cum Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda graced the occasion as the presiding authority and chief guest, respectively.

Participation and Collaborations:

The event, organized in collaboration with various agricultural institutions, saw the enthusiastic participation of thousands of farmers. Institutions such as the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, National Seed Corporation, Birsa Agricultural University, IFFCO, National Horticulture Board, ATARI, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, NAFED, NABARD, and state institutions played a pivotal role in orchestrating the event.

Governor’s Address:

Governor Radhakrishnan, addressing the agricultural fair and training program, lauded the transformative efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the agriculture sector. He emphasized the meaningful realization of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s slogan, “Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan,” under PM Modi’s leadership. Governor Radhakrishnan highlighted the fulfillment of requests for crucial infrastructural developments in Jharkhand, acknowledging the appointment of tribal leader Droupadi Murmu as the President and Arjun Munda’s key role in tribal and farmers’ welfare ministries.

Agricultural Sector Transformations:

While inspecting the stalls, Governor Radhakrishnan noted significant changes in the national agriculture sector. Central schemes were acknowledged as catalysts for revolutionary changes, with agriculture recognized as the backbone of the economy. The Governor commended the gathering’s commendable effort in the interest of farmers, underscoring the Prime Minister’s commitment to increasing farmers’ income.

Union Minister’s Address:

Union Minister Arjun Munda, in his address, outlined the government’s planned approach to develop villages, towns, and cities under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Munda urged farmers to embrace multi-cropping systems to contribute to the country’s development. He emphasized the importance of soil testing, utilization of drones, and nano urea in farming practices. Munda paid tribute to Jharkhand’s martyrs, stating that true homage lies in making the fields green. He highlighted the role of self-help groups, particularly mentioning PM Drone Didi and the government’s commitment to prioritizing the agricultural sector.

Budgetary Allocations and Initiatives:

Munda revealed a remarkable increase in the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare’s budget, emphasizing the government’s support to disaster-affected farmers. The Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme’s benefits were extended to Jharkhand farmers, and a new Central Sector Scheme for the formation and promotion of 10,000 new Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) was launched with a budget of Rs 6865 crore.

Honoring Progressive Farmers:

The Governor and Union Minister took the opportunity to honor progressive farmers during the event. More than 150 stalls were set up to publicize central schemes through short films, and farmers received Nano urea kits from IFFCO, protection kits, and saplings from HIL.

Training Sessions and Information Dissemination:

Training sessions covered various aspects, including fodder seed production, Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Natural Farming, use of drones, developing agriculture as an enterprise, and Nano Urea. Information was disseminated about secondary agriculture, poultry farming, and integrated farming systems.

Diverse Participation:

The event witnessed the presence of MPs Sanjay Seth, Vidyut Varan Mahato, and other public representatives, along with agricultural scientists and senior officials, showcasing a collective commitment to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
