
Jamshedpur, Aug 8: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) thrashed Bhilai Steel Plant 9-0 in the final to win the All India Inter Steel Plants Hockey championship played under flood lights at the Astro turf ground of ISWP Sports Complex at Naval Tata Hockey Academy (NTHA) on Thursday, August 8.

Amit Chirmako opened the scoring for the Rourkela Steel Plant in the 3rd minute via field goal to take his team 1-0. Rourkela Steel Plant boys dominated the match and didn�t let Bhilai Steel Plant to score a single goal. Rourkela team led by Tarun Yadav again netted one in the 7th minute followed by another goal from Amit Kr. Toppo in just the 14th minute of the match.

With 3-0 up Rourkela Steel Plant got a penalty corner in the 22nd minute which Amit Chirmako successfully converted to take RSP 4-0 in just the first half of the match. It was no stopping RSP as Kerobin Lakra found the back of the net through penalty corner in the 27th minute to take Rourkela side to 5-0 up.

The RSP continued its domination in the second half. The team got the first penalty corner of the second half as Kingson Singh successfully converted it in the 39th minute and again Kingson Singh scored through a penalty corner in the 47th minute to take the team to 7-0 up.

There was no stopping the Rourkela Steel Plant side as Lokash Vets scored through a penalty corner in the 51st minute.
Kingson Singh was again back in action and netted again in the 58th minute which took his tally to 3 goals and his team was leading by a massive 9-0 which was the final score of the match.

Neeraj Kant, managing director, ISWP was present as the chief guest and awarded the winners. Best Player was bagged by Kerubin Lakra of Rourkela Steel Plant.
A total of 80 players and officials participated in championship. Teams from Tata Steel, Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL), Rourkela Steel Plant and Bhilai Steel Plant participated in the tournament.
Avinash Kumar, Sr. Manager, Sports Department Tata Steel was the Organizing Secretary and Sudarshan Singh, Adviser, SPSB & NIS, Hockey Coach (Bhilai) was present as the Observer for the championship.
Tata Steel hosted the tournament for the first time at Jamshedpur from 6 to 8 August.
