Jamshedpur, June 1: Basanti Gagrai, wife of Kharsawan MLA and JMM leader Dashrath Gagrai, was defeated in the Zila Parishad elections. She was defeated by her closest rival Savitri Banra by a margin of 3900 votes. Banra had the backing of BJP. Sources claimed the defeat came after the alleged thrashing of Kharsawan Mandal president of JMM Prashant Mahato by Dashrath Gagrai two days before the elections. Gagrai’s wife was denied Mahato votes due to the incident, sources claimed.
