Kerala Public Schools contribute 15000 books to Rotary mission

Jamshedpur, July 12: Kerala Public Schools joined hand-in-hand with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur in order to create mass awareness about RILM program as part of the Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) under T-E-A-C-H Mission aiming towards eradicating illiteracy and make India totally literate by 2017, Rotary has designed a campaign �A Million Books, A Million Smiles�.

The mission is: TEACH (T-Teacher Support, E-e learning, A-Adult Literacy, C-Child Development, H-Happy Schools) an initiative of Rotary Club. Kerala Public Schools made an appeal to all the pupils to wake up to the genuine cause, donate books and take responsibility of a single �smile�. The response was overwhelming.

Total of 15000 books were collected from different sections of the society along with collected old books 2658 new books were given. The These books were received by Prof Sharad Sarin on behalf of Rotary Club in a formal ceremony held at the Kerala Public school, Kadma premises on Saturday. Rotary Clubs all over India are aiming to collect one million books for one million smiles. These books would be kept in 1500 libraries under the Happy School Project.

Prof Sharad Sarin thanked the school team for their true effort of collecting books for bringing smile on one million faces. �Our traget is to make India literate and send every child to school by 2017. The collected books will be kept in 1500 libraries under the Happy School Project�, Sarin added.

APR Nair, Chairman KPS on the occasion said that, �we thought why only contribute old collected books to the mission and bought 2658 new books amounting to Rs 95000 with our team�s joint effort and that to in short span of time�.
