Kendriya Vidyalaya Rairangpur students visit CSIR-NML Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 13: CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, organised a laboratory visit for 172 students and 11 teachers of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rairangpur to promote scientific awareness and introduce them to research and innovation. The programme was held under the CSIR–Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory initiative.
The visit began with an inaugural session. Dr Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR–NML, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the laboratory’s contributions to national development over the past 76 years through technological advancements and pioneering research.


Dr Animesh Jana, Senior Scientist at CSIR–NML, spoke about the importance of the Jigyasa Programme and explained the various activities conducted under it. A popular lecture titled “Science: A World of Unlimited Possibilities” was delivered by Dr (Mrs) Sreeda P, inspiring students to explore scientific careers.
The students visited several research facilities, including the Advanced Alloy Characterisation (AAC) Lab, Creep Lab, E-waste Recycling Unit and 3D Printing section. Demonstrations of DIY kits were also conducted.
Students and teachers expressed satisfaction and appreciated the opportunity to gain practical insights into scientific research.
