Jamshedpur, May 26: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Jharkhand government has appointed Karn Satyarthi as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum, which includes the industrial hub of Jamshedpur. The changes were announced through a notification issued on Monday.

Along with East Singhbhum, new Deputy Commissioners have also been appointed for West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan districts. Chandan Kumar will take charge as DC of West Singhbhum, while Nitish Kumar Singh will assume responsibility as DC of Saraikela-Kharsawan.

All three officers have been assigned the dual roles of District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner and have been empowered under Section-14 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023. The new appointments have taken effect immediately.

Karn Satyarthi, a 2016 batch IAS officer, previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Gumla. During his tenure, he was recognized for impactful initiatives in rural development, education, and tribal welfare. His administrative acumen and focus on community welfare earned him appreciation across various levels.

Now taking charge of East Singhbhum, Satyarthi steps into a key leadership role in one of Jharkhand’s most prominent industrial regions. With Jamshedpur as its economic backbone, expectations are high for accelerated development in sectors like mining, industry, and infrastructure.
