Karim City College crowned Hindi Literature quiz winner at ‘Sahitya Sandhya’

Jamshedpur, May 13: The Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence and Akshar Kumbh Jointly organized “Sahitya Sandhya”to pay Homage to Late Premchand Mandhan today at Centre for Excellence.

The programme started with floral tribute to Late Premchand Mandhan followed by address of Chief Guest, Professor Dr Lakshman Prasad, Dept of Hindi, Cooperative College, Jamshedpur on ‘Role of Literature to change the society’.

He said that literature improves the life style and the way of thinking of human beings.

Sometimes the writer and the reader work like activists to reform the society. Retd Prof. Dr C Bhaskar Rao, Ranchi University presided the function and delivered his thoughts on ‘The Social Awareness in the writing of Lafz Jamshedpuri or Late Premchand Mandhan’.

He said Premchand Mandhan was an Institution in himself. There is no substitute of him.

During the programme a quiz on Hindi Literature was conducted in two phases, Prelims and the final Round.

Six best teams were selected for final round. Lawkesh Kumar and Amit Kumar form Karim City College bagged the first prize, Akash Kumar Srivastava and Utkarsh Sahay from Loyola School were second while Prakash Kesharwani of Karim City College and Jagriti from Jamshedpur Womens College were third.

Consolation prizes were given to Bulbul Shah and Sweta Kumari from Jamshedpur Women’s College, Bibha Kumari and Arya Kumari from Jamshedpur Women”s College and Subham Kumar Tiwari and Faraz Inbesat from Loyola School.

The Quiz was conducted by Mr Raman Akela and Mrs Geeta Dubey Prof Dr Ragini Bhushan, Kolhan University, Prof Dr Joohi Smarpita, Jamshedpur Women’s College, Prof Dr Archana Sinha, Graduate College Jamshedpur, Dr Arun Sajjan, HOD Hindi, Loyola School, Mr Lalan Sharma from Kerala Samajam Model School and Mr Sajid from Dept of Mass Communication, Karim City College contributed for the success of the event.

Govind Madhav Sharan,Head, Urban Services, Tata Steel gave vote of thanks.
