Governor, Ministers, guests from three states to attend, presentation of Kurmi Ratna Awards

Jamshedpur, Aug 10: Preparations are in full swing for the annual Karam Mahotsav, to be celebrated on August 31 at Gopal Maidan. The event is being organized by Kurmi Sena, and will see the participation of dignitaries from three states.

A review meeting was held at Sonari CP Club under the chairmanship of Kurmi Sena’s central president, Shailendra Mahato. He informed that Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar would grace the occasion as the chief guest, while Bihar’s Rural Development Minister and Jharkhand JDU in-charge, Shravan Kumar, would be the special guest. Several senior members, including Jharkhand movement veteran Umanath Jha and state president Vishal Mahato, were present during the meeting.

The event will commence with traditional Karam Puja, followed by cultural performances. The celebrations will be held between 3 pm and 10 pm. One of the highlights will be the presentation of the prestigious “Kurmi Ratna” awards, which will honor Members of Parliament and MLAs from Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha for their contributions.

General secretary and Supreme Court advocate Arvind Kumar Mahato stated that a five-member selection panel had been formed to choose the awardees. Last year, Kurmi Ratna was conferred upon individuals who had excelled in the fields of art, law, sports, and public service, including police and administrative roles.

Organizers expected a large gathering of people from Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal, making the Karam Mahotsav not just a cultural celebration but also a platform to honor exemplary service across various domains.
