Kandra’s Isha Burman earns doctorate in Environmental Engineering

Jamshedpur, March 4: For Isha Burman of small town Kandra, the sky has not been the limit as she became the first IITian to earn her doctorate in Environmental Engineering. Her research paper was based on clearing water bodies of impurities – leachate – through sludge bacteria technique. Isha did her research based on water at the Bara Sewage Water Treatment Plant (TSUISL). Her guide during compilation of research papers was Prof Dr Alok Sinha of Environmental Studies Department at IIT ISM Dhanbad.

Dr Isha Barman stated that her research was related to a developed technique that would not only control water pollution but would enable recycling of contaminated water after purifying it. Dr Isha barman’s research papers are contained in two books. A student of Kandra’s Harishchandra Vidya Mandir and Jamshedpur Women’s College, Dr Isha Barman is a member of, among others American Academy of Engineers and Scientists, American Society of Civil Engineers, International Society for Development and Sustainability (Japan) and Society of Engineers (Australia).
