Jamshedpur: The agitation of mini bus drivers was finally called off here on Friday after the intervention of district police officials.
Sources said the members of mini bus union in Seraikela-Kharsawan had gone on strike to protest the damage caused to several minibuses. The protestors had also allegedly beaten up the local Zila Parishad member Sudhir Mahato after the windshield of several buses were found broken at Kandra a week ago.
Mahato gave a compensation of Rs 10,000 each to the owners of the two buses reportedly vandalized at his behest in Kandra. The officer in-charge of Kandra PS Ashok Kumar appealed to both sides to maintain peace and talk to each other to sort out the matter. He said no written complaint was made by either side in connection with the recent incidents.
