Jamshedpur, Sept 28: In view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the Kalindi Samiti of Olidih in Mango has decided to observe Durgotsav this year without much fanfare. A meeting of the Samiti was organized wherein the decision was taken. Kalindi Samiti decided that no public donation would be collected, offerings of women devotees observing fast for the Goddesss consecration will not be accepted, community bhog distribution will not be done and community puspanjali will not be organized. It was also decided in the meeting that the idol of the Goddess would be brought in by a minimum number of volunteers and for immersion too only a few members would be deployed. As such, the size of the idol will be short and the pandal structure will be light to avoid crowds. This information was provided by Kalindi Samiti Durga Puja founder member and chief patron KK Kalindi. He said that the puja will be performed as per rituals. Decision regarding Dhakis (traditional drummers) and mike set would be taken later but he said that getting Dhakis at the last moment could be a problem.
