Jamshedpur, Sept 12: The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (P) central committee general secretary Abhay Singh has condemned the rate of traffic fines imposed in the revised Motor Vehicles Act dubbing it as dictatorial and akin to the whimsical attitude of Mohammad Bin Tughlaq. He demanded of the Prime Minister to roll back on the new traffic penalty rates that were exorbitant by all counts. The JVM he said did support helmet checking.
�But charging Rs 5,000 for license, and Rs 25,000 for vehicles driven by minors and threats of jailing their guardians, are illogical and dictatorial almost in the mould of Mohammad Bin Tughlaq. These measures are intolerable. The revised penalties have created an atmosphere of fear among the citizens,� Abhay Singh stated. He said that this fear must be removed by the government.
