Jusco strives to give Jamshedpur a new identity

Jamshedpur: Jusco, a city based civic and municipal service provider company believes in adopting innovative processes that align its business practices to the tenets of good governance, social consciousness and environmental responsibility.

Part of this effort has been the aggressive promotion of green development in and around the city. Senior officials of the company today shared vision of the company with the media.

Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco said that the company is taking several steps to improve living stand of people. Several initiatives are being taken in this regard. He said that the people must support the steps for better tomorrow.

Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, senior general manager (JTO), Jusco during an interaction with media at United Club shared the initiatives taken by the company.

Commuters travelling through one of the main commercial hubs of the city Sakchi bazaar, which has been cleared of encroachment, can look forward for hassle free journey. After removing encroachments, Jusco has identified areas freed of encroachment suitable sites which can be developed as parking zones.

Mishra informed that Jusco will set up 9 new parking zones in Sakchi. Moreover Aambagan will be developed as parking zone apart from beautification and better illumination steps would be taken to help people park their vehicles.

The move assumes significance as illegal parking along with encroachment was the main bottleneck for smooth commuting in the biggest market.

With city roads squeezing day by day due to encroachments, Jusco launched launch anti-encroachment drive. �We want to streamline the traffic movement in the city. We are taking initiatives to vacate the illegal constructions so that the vehicles can move easily,� said the officer.

Mishra also said that steps will be taken to ensure that Gopal Maidan in Bistupur is used for sports activities while Kadma Ganesh Puja maidan is used for exhibitions and melas.

He informed that Jusco is also working on approved plans to widen 22 roads in next two years, JUSCO has started the project on wide scale. Widening will not only decongests the road but also enable creation of dividers and footpaths which will improve traffic safety.

Work has already started on these roads comprising S B Road, Subernarekha Link Road, Kharkai Link Road, Kadani Road, N- Road and 7th Avenue.

An apparent cause of concern in such developmental activities is handling of trees so that the adverse impact on environment is minimal.

Being sensitive to this, a lot of planning has been done and following principles have been adopted to ensure that the objectives are met: Re-alignment of roads to avoid felling of trees as much as possible � resultantly some roads will lose its straight-line look after widening.

A total of 544 trees have been untouched as a result of this.

As part of the relocation of maximum trees, especially the young trees where the survival chances are higher � 308 trees have been relocated till date. Along S B Road, 15 Palm trees and 20 Ficus plants have been replanted at other places.

JUSCO also established an Integrated Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management system for command area of Jamshedpur under which following initiatives have been identified for implementation in the first phase.
