Jamshedpur: Jusco Shramik Union elections took place peacefully here on Monday. Out of the total 789 voters, 95 per cent cast their votes to elect the office-bearers of the union.
The election started at 9 pm at Jusco Greens. Security was tightened at the election venue in view of the polls. The election concluded at 5 pm with the voters electing their choice candidates against a total of seven posts, sources said.
The ballot boxes were sent to a strong-room set up at the canteen. Election officer CS Jha said the counting of votes will take place after the election of union committee members tomorrow.
He said the election was conducted in a free and fair manner. The fate of the candidates will be declared tomorrow evening, he said.
