Jusco launches Swachh Bharat awareness campaign in Jamshedpur

DC flags off four e-rickshaws for garbage collection from households

Jamshedpur: Jusco launched Swachh Bharat awareness campaign at Sakchi roundabout on Saturday. An attempt is being made to secure a position for Jamshedpur among the top 10 cities of India that would be shortlisted following a Swachhata Sarvekshan (cleanliness survey). The survey would be held in 441 cities across the country.
During the programme, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Amit Kumar flagged off four e-rickshaws to collect garbage from households in different localities across the city.

The Jusco team members spread awareness on disposal of wet waste and rejected waste through segregation. They appealed to the people to use bags made of clothes, jute or other eco-friendly materials. A nukkad natak was also organized to spread the message of cleanliness among the citizens.

Officials said Jusco would run the campaign till January. E-rickshaws would be used for information, education and communication. Cleaning workers were given cards signed by the DC to pick up waste from households. People would be educated on the proper method of waste disposal.

The DC appealed to the city residents to download the Swachhata App to ensure removal of waste from anywhere in the city within 12 hours.

Among those present on the occasio included senior GM of Jusco Dhananjay Mishra, Deepak Kamath, AP Singh and Arun Vidyut.
