Jusco launches plantation drive to improve green cover in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 30: The month of June is celebrated as environment month in Jusco. Like every year, Jusco had planned many initiatives to mark the occasion.

The objective of this year�s �environment month� was to implement ideas to reduce individual carbon foot print.

In this effort, the first program was organized at Garabasa Road, Sakchi, where more than 600 teak saplings were planted.

On the same day, tree plantation was organized at Beldih Gram near C H Area and at Golf Course, Golmuri. At the Golf Course, officers of Tata Steel Corporate Services Department contributed for the saplings.

In line with the above objective Thursday�s function, employees of Water Management Department organized two programs at two locations � River Pump House and Water Treatment Plant. Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco, and Raghunath Pandey, president, Jusco Shramik Union, planted saplings at both the locations.

Capt. Dhanajay Mishra, Sr. GM (JTO), R K Singh, DGM, Water Management, other employees from Water Management Department were present on the occasion. More than 300 saplings of different variety like ashoka, teak, mango, leechi, papaya, etc were planted by all.

All employees of Water Management Department contributed Rs.50 towards the cost of the sapling to express their individual commitment to reduce carbon foot prints.

Similar drive will be organized by all departments of Jusco to contribute towards reducing individual foot prints and improve green cover at Jamshedpur.
