Jamshedpur, Feb. 26: Everyone has a responsibility to lessen their individual carbon footprint, and there are lots of ways to do so. Switching to public transportation, carpooling or cycling/ biking can save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions on our way to and from work.

On February 20, few Jusco employees came to work on foot instead of using their own vehicle. A team of 20, led by Sr. GM JTO, Capt Mishra, assembled at the Sakchi roundabout at 8:30 a.m. and started their walk to office taking the route of Bagh-e-Jamshed School – Dorabji Tata park- Jamshedpur Blood Bank and reached the Jusco corporate office 5 minutes before 9:00 am.

Employees who reside in Sakchi, Mango, Sidhgodha and other places parked their respective vehicles near the D.M library, Sakchi roundabout, and started their walk to office, which they completed in less than half-an-hour.

These employees have taken this initiative to come to office by walking which not only will reduce the carbon footprint and enhance the green economy of Jamshedpur but they hope that their this endeavor will also motivate others to do so, a press communiqué issued by the utility services company stated.

These 20 advocates of Jusco are now trying to encourage everyone to think about their lifestyle decision and find opportunities to reduce the climate impact.

On February 27, this team will start this initiative from Kadma and they request other employees living near ICS, Central CSC, Road No 6, G P Slope, and Kadma to join them in this venture by walking or cycling. Those willing are requested to assemble at the above stated location at 8:15 a.m. and the team will start walking/ cycling from 8:30 a.m. sharp.

“When we implement this in our own life then only will we be able to motivate others to do the same is the belief of this team. Let’s all try and join in,” the press release said.
