Jugsalai to Get a Degree College, KU Forms Inspection Committee

Jamshedpur: Residents of Jugsalai may soon have access to a degree college in their locality as the administration of Kolhan University has initiated steps to establish the institution for the benefit of students in the area.

The development follows a proposal raised by Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi during the sixth Senate meeting of the university. The MLA suggested that the proposed college be operated temporarily from a suitable school building until a permanent campus is constructed.

Taking the proposal seriously, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anjila Gupta announced a significant decision during the 44th Academic Council meeting. She directed the immediate constitution of a high-level inspection committee to evaluate the feasibility of running the college from an existing school building in Jugsalai.

The committee will conduct a physical inspection of the identified sites and assess the availability of classrooms, infrastructure, and other essential facilities. A detailed report will be submitted to the university administration after the inspection.

According to university officials, the admission process for the current academic session is expected to begin soon after the committee submits its report and the proposal receives final approval. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that students from Jugsalai and nearby areas have access to higher education facilities closer to their homes, reducing the need to travel long distances for college education.

The move has generated optimism among students, parents, and local residents, who have long been demanding a degree college in the rapidly growing urban area of Jugsalai. If implemented, the project is expected to provide a major boost to higher education opportunities in the region.
