We Will Strengthen Skill Development in Jharkhand and Odisha: Chandrasekaran
“CSR and Community Development Will Remain Our Priority”
Jamshedpur, March 2: Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran on Monday expressed happiness at being in Jamshedpur for the 187th Founder’s Day celebrations. He spoke to the media after inaugurating the grand illumination at Jubilee Park, which marked the beginning of the city’s annual festivities.
Announcing new initiatives, Chandrasekaran said, “We will further strengthen skill development programmes in Jharkhand and Odisha.” He added that the Tata Group will also expand the scope of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in the region.

He said that in collaboration with Tata Steel, the Group will focus on community development and capacity-building programmes aimed at empowering youth and enhancing livelihood opportunities. Extending New Year greetings to the residents of Jamshedpur, he said the Group would work closely with the state government in areas such as skill development, CSR and knowledge-based industries.
Chandrasekaran informed that he met Chief Minister Hemant Soren earlier in the day to discuss potential areas of collaboration. “The Jharkhand government is keen to promote knowledge-based industries, and we will work together to develop this sector,” he said, adding that such initiatives are part of a long-term plan and not one-day decisions.
Describing the festive atmosphere, he said the illumination of Jubilee Park is “like Diwali for the people of Jamshedpur,” reflecting the legacy of Jamsetji Tata and the spirit of the city.
Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata and Tata Steel CEO and Managing Director T.V. Narendran were also present at the event, underscoring the Group’s continued commitment to the socio-economic development of the region.
