JTDS announces Rs 10K as seed money to SHGs

Jamshedpur, March 14: Social worker Anjali Bose was felicitated during the Women�s Day function organized by social organization �Yuva� (Youth Unity for Voluntary Action) under the aegis of Jharkhand Adivasi empowerment and livelihood scheme at Seraikela on Monday.

Bose also celebrated her birthday at the event attended by more than 150 women of self-help group of �Yuva.� Neeraj Nayan, Seraikella-Kharsawan district program officer of JTDS, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Manoj Hans, finance officer of JTDS was the guest of honor.

The welcome address was given by Burnali Chakraborty, secretary of Yuva. Addressing the gathering, Neeraj Nayan said women leadership can help the villages to develop further. He announced Rs 10,000 as seed money to the self-help groups that have already opened their bank accounts.

Nayan informed that Rs 5,000 will be given by March 31 and the remaining money will be provided within the next six months.

Manoj Hans hailed the program and assured to link the self-help groups with the employment programs. At the event, Yuva felicitated five active women groups from five panchayats and two best laborers. Yuva has formed 153 self-help groups in 65 villages in five panchayats in Seraikela under the Jharkhand Adivasi empowerment and livelihood scheme.

The main attraction of the event was the question answer round where women were asked questions related to Jharkhand Adivasi empowerment and livelihood scheme.

Later, a drama on overcoming drug addiction was staged by women groups of Mulu Mahila Samiti and Adivasi Sarna Mahila Samiti Diolandih.

The message that emerged from the drama was that women can overcome all evils of the society by remaining united.
