Jamshedpur: JN Tata Vocational Training Institute (JNTVTI), a public charitable trust driven by the Capability Development Department of Tata Steel, will get a new campus at Mrs KMPM Inter College with modern lab facility in Bistupur. JNTVTI also has plans of setting up of exclusive campus in 18.65 acre land offered by Tata Steel at Jamshedpur.
According to Prakash Singh, Chief Capability Development, Tata Steel, “Prize money from the winnings of the award money of Prime Ministers� Trophy for The Best Integrated Steel Plant has come handy in putting up the training infrastructure in the heart of Jamshedpur town in the campus of now non-functional Mrs KMPM Inter College.
The expansion of the institute is on so that it becomes something like a skill university which contributes immensely towards the objective of Skill India. A landmark today, JNTVTI has now been recognised as Training Provider by the Indian Iron & Steel Skill Sector Council of National Skill Development Corporation. This is a significant achievement in its journey towards excellence in the field of skill development”.
Addressing a press meet at SNTI in Bistupur on Thursday, Singh said that JNTVTI is offering seven full time industrial training courses, namely, Site Safety Supervisor, Mechanical Supervisor, Crane Operator-cum-Rigger, Hydraulic Technician, Mechanical Fitter-cum-Rigger, Electrician and Welder�cum-Gas Cutter. Site Safety Supervisor, Mechanical Supervisor and Rigger courses are 5 months duration courses, Hydraulic Technician is 3 months duration course, while the remaining three are 12 months duration training programmes. All the training courses have been developed after assessing the industry requirements so that all those trained at JNTVTI gain fruitful employment with vendors of Tata Steel as well as other organisations which have shown interest in JNTVTI trained trainees.
“JNTVTI is different from other Vocational Training Institute�s because we first tie up with the recruiters and hold discussions about the CTC they will offer to the trainees once they complete their course. We aim to identify Jharkhand youths and provide them training which in turn helps them get a job. The Trust intends to impart such vocational training under various skill development schemes run by the Central and State Governments. An MoU has also been signed between the Trust and The Govt. of India under the Flexi-MoU Scheme run by the latter”, noted Singh.
Talking about the future plans of JNTVTI, Tata Steel officer stated, affirmative action, training of transgender as a policy, positive discrimination for meritorious SC/ST candidates, gateway to foreign placement, NSQF Certification by NSDC, addition of new industrial courses as per customer demand, hydraulic technician and mechanical supervisor top the list.
“We also aim to increase enrolments by 100% with target to achieve 1000 enrolments by Mar�19. JNTVTI has also achieved 100% placement till date with CTC not less than Rs 2.16 lacs per annum. A new JNTVTI Centre will be opened at Joda in Jan�19”, Singh singed off.
