Jamshedpur, Feb 14: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) launched a public awareness campaign in several localities of Kadma on Monday. A fine of Rs 2580 was slapped on four persons reportedly found spreading garbage at public places and storing building material on roads.
Sources said an eatery was fined Rs 1000 for reportedly throwing kitchen waste in the open. Another restaurant in the area was fined Rs 1000 for keeping building materials on road, sources said.
The JNAC Special Officer appealed to local residents to ensure proper disposal of waste. He said vehicles collecting garbage from door to door visited all localities every day. People should abstain from throwing waste recklessly here and there, he said, adding further that strict action would be taken against those flouting the waste disposal norms.
The JNAC officials present during the campaign included city manager Sonal Singh Chouhan, Ajay Raj, Mahendra Pradhan, MKL Das, Vinod Tiwary and Dilip Barik.
