JNAC plans vendors mart in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), the state owned civic body has sent the G+2 multi-storied vendors mart to the urban development department for sanction from the state cabinet. The move will help ease traffic congestion on roads at commercial hubs due to roadside vendors.

The multi-storied structure would come up near Gudri Bazar in Kadma market (0.55 acre) and in Sonari market (0.74 acre) while the single storied vendor�s mart would come up near Aerodrome market in Sonari (0.45 acre) and in 0.52 acre area in Dhatkidih market (in Bistupur). 

The projected cost of each of the multi-storied market is nearly Rs 10-crore while the single storied vendor�s mart proposed cost is Rs 2-crore.

�It is our ambitious project and we are looking forward to make it successful. We have sent the detailed implementation plan (DIP) to the state urban development earlier this year and expect the cabinet approval any day and would finalise the tenders within two month. The construction of the multi-storied structures would take a year for completion. Both the multi-storied and single storied vendor�s mart will have all basic amenities like washrooms, drinking water, parking and sitting space and changing room for women,� said JNAC special officer Krishna Kumar.

Sources in the state urban development department informed that the file is awaiting clearance from the State Finance Department before being placed in the state cabinet.

�We are confident to get cabinet�s approval this month and tender process would be completed at the earliest. The move will help ease traffic congestion. However issue of work order might get delayed due to imposition of model code of conduct anytime in September-October for the ensuing state assembly polls to be held in November-December. Soon after work order is issued construction work will commence with a deadline of one year,� said a senior official in the state urban development authority.
