Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has issued general guidelines to all hotels, restaurants and wedding hall owners regarding proper disposal of solid waste. The JNAC special officer, Sanjay Kumar, said the management officials of hotels, restaurants and wedding halls should make sure the waste food and other garbage generated on the premises are disposed properly. In order to ensure proper disposal, composting machines should be set up by these bulk generators, he said.
Kumar said a survey would be conducted across the city to identify bulk generators of solid waste. A notice would be sent to those generating solid waste in bulk, but not disposing them as per Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, he said.
Kumar said the wedding halls, hotels or restaurants not complying with the solid waste management rules would be either sealed or subjected to trade licence cancellation. Initially, a notice of 15 days would be given to the defaulters, he said.
