Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has intensified its crackdown on encroachments in the city’s major markets.

Following appeals from the police administration urging people to clear illegal encroachments, JNAC commenced stringent action on Saturday.

During a targeted campaign in the Sakchi area, JNAC officials removed dozens of illegally encroached stalls and street vendors.

This move comes as part of efforts to reclaim public spaces and ensure orderly urban development.

However, the eviction sparked concerns among unemployed shopkeepers who had been operating in the area for 15-20 years.

They expressed disappointment over the lack of prior notice and appealed to the district administration for alternative arrangements. Despite the absence of opposition during the removal process, the apprehension regarding unemployment was palpable among affected shopkeepers.
