Jamshedpur, May 7: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Saturday staged a sit-in protest before the Jamshedpur DC office demanding amendments in the domicile policy recently announced by the Raghubar Das government.
To make the sit-in protest successful, senior JMM including all the block presidents and hundreds of party workers and activists assembled before the DC office.
Addressing the gathering, Ghatshila MLA Kunal Sarangi, termed the local policy as deception for the Adivasi and indigenous people and demanded that the government scrap the policy immediately. ‘The announced local policy is not acceptable at any cost and threatened the state government to take back the local policy till May 14 otherwise we will be holding strong protest and the loss during the bandh will be borne by the state government.
We will take to the streets on Saturday, May 14 across Jharkhand region, the eligibility of a being resident of Jharkhand as defined by the government was against the interest of the State’.
On the occasion JMM delegation later submitted a memorandum to DC addressed to the governor of Jharkhand. According to the memorandum submitted, before Independence of Indian and till the formation of Jharkhand in the year 2000 the adivasis have fight for the Land, Forest and Water and CNT and SPT act was formed which is applicable till now.
Party leaders attending the meeting also vowed to make the Jharkhand bandh on May 14 a big success.
Ghatshila MLA Kunal Sarangi, Mohan Karmakar, Raju Giri, Pramodlal, Babar Khan, Laltu Mahato, district president Ramdas Soren, Kamaljeet Kaur Gill, Sunil Mahato, Mahaveer Murmu, Raj Lakda and other party leaders and workers were present.
