Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) huddled into a post-poll introspection after receiving negative results in its stronghold at Santhal Pargana. The party central committee held a emergent meeting on Monday where discussions were held on the performances of the party in Jhakhand.
The JMM has not yet come out from the results at Santhal Pargana, its stronghold, where Hemant Soren faced drubbing at the hands of BJP’s Louise Marandi. Sibu Soren while addressing the meeting expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the party had managed to secure 19 seats.
At the same time Soren called for introspection over result at Santhal Pargana. The JMM won 18 seats in polls in 2009 whereas this time it managed to win one more seat.
The Morcha functionaries were seen in a deep introspection mood over the fact that the BJP has managed to double its seats in the recent election. Showing a scintillating performance the BJP managed to win 37 seats, while in last election it won only 18.
The BJP’s growing strength seemed to have worried the JMM. The JMM also discussed why Hemant Soren lost in Dumka. The win at Barhait came only as a face saver for the party.
Hemant Soren expressed that while the party lost some of the seats it managed to win the crucial Silli assembly seat by defeating the former deputy chief minister Sudesh Mahato. Going alone in the assembly election did not harm the party that much as the party secured all 18 seats and managed to win one more.
The party members opined that migration of workers to other States during the election had made adverse impact in results at Dumka.
The party observed that votes from minority community also went into the kitty of BJP. Division of minority votes a point of worry for the party as also rejection of urban voters, it said.
The party will another round of meeting soon, the JMM office-bearers here said.
