Jharna Maity murder case: Police send blood samples to Ranchi lab

Jamshedpur : The police are hopeful to solve the mystery behind the murder of 38-year-old Jharna Maity at Sahara Complex in Kadma recently.

Sources informed that the police have sent blood samples of nine suspects to the state-owned Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Ranchi to detect the people involved in the gruesome act. The blood samples include that of the murder victim’s husband Kingshuk Maity and brother-in-law Pradeep Maity.

Senior superintendent of police, Amol V Homkar expressed confidence that once the blood samples are tested at the FSL, the murder case will be solved by detecting the real culprit.

“We are heading towards right direction. The murder victim had scratches caused by the nails and there blood-stain scene of murder. Now we have to just find out exactly whose blood sample does match with the blood-stain and semen found at the murder scene,” said Homkar. The senior SP said during the investigation they have found enough evidence in which the victim’s husband and close relatives might also be involved in the murder.

Notably, wife of Kingshuk Maity, Jharna was found lying in a pool of blood at her flat in Sahara Apartment in Ramnagar under Kadma police station area on June 10 evening.

Suspecting involvement of the close relative, the police pressed a team of finger-print experts in service and also have visited the houses of some of the relatives at Adityapur for questioning. This apart the police also took the cell-phone of Kingshuk Maity’s, the husband of the murder victim into their possession from the dickey of his bike that was found parked outside the housing complex.

Jharna’s blood-soaked body was discovered by her husband when he reportedly returned home from his duty at about 7.15 pm on Tuesday. Husband Kingshuk works at a private marketing agency having its office in Bistupur and had come to the house for lunch in the afternoon.

Soon after seeing the body, Kingshuk had screamed, leading some neighbours to rush to the spot. One of the neighbours had subsequently informed the police about the incident.

The senior SP, however, did not reveal the main reason behind sending the blood samples of the victim’s husband and eight others scientifically examined in the FSL, claiming that the result of murder investigation will be interesting when the blood sample examination report comes.
