Jamshedpur: Jharkhandvasi Asmita Manch, a city-based outfit demanding domicile status for non-tribals of the state, today announced its plan to organize a peaceful protest march on 11th July from Agrico ground to the office of the deputy commissioner to protest certain proposals regarding domicile policy of Jharkhand.
The outfit patron Anand Bihari Dubey said the purpose of the upcoming protest march was to register protest against the ongoing politics in Jharkhand in the name of domicile policy. He said certain tribal leaders and political parties were trying to foment discord among tribal and non-tribal people of the state in expectation of petty political gains.
“It is disappointing to see certain politicians and parties engaging in petty and narrow-minded politics over domicile issue. The issue was made use of by the first government in the state. Now once again efforts have started to fuel communal hatred in the name of domicile in this state.
This is the limit of parochialism and a danger to democracy and the society,” said Dubey. Dubey said several thousand people would be gathering at Agrico ground to attend the grand protest march. A memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Hemant Soren will be given to the deputy commissioner to demand an end to such petty politics and a fair domicile policy which includes both tribal and non-tribal people of the state without overlooking the interests of either community.
