Jharkhand’s Vatsal gains ELO rating 130 at Bangkok Chess Club Open

Jamshedpur, April 16: Jharkhand’s Vatsal Singhania enhanced his ELO rating by 130 points in the 17th Bangkok Chess Club Open 2017.

Vatsal was seeded 101 with the present ELO rating of 2002 scored 5.5 points out of possible 9 with a performance Rating of 2320 to finish 42nd in the final ranking list. There were more than 190 participants from more than 40 countries.

British Grand Master Nigel Short won the Championship with 7.5 points. The best Indian performer was Grand Master Deep Sengupta finishing 6th with 6.5 points.

Vatsal is likely to enter the club of 2100+ in May 2017 list. The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in competitor-versus-competitor games such as chess.
