Modern market complexes to come up at abandoned bus depots in city

Jamshedpur, Nov. 20: Jharkhand’s first women’s university will be established in Sidhgora under Jamshedpur East assembly constituency. Chief Minister, Raghubar Das made the announcement during an interaction with the media at Circuit House on Monday. He also announced that Sonari Domuhani would be developed as a tourist spot.

“I am happy to announce that the first women’s university of the state will come up in Sidhgora. It is really an ambitious project and will give the much needed boost to education. I visited the spot at Bagunhatu in Sidhgora with the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Amit Kumar and other senior administrative officials.

I have asked the DC to make a proposal for land transfer to the state government within 48 hours in this regard. The state government after consultation with concerned departments will submit the same to the Union HRD ministry. A meeting with state HRD and Union ministry is scheduled to be held on December 18 in New Delhi,” said Das.

As per information, around 18 acres of vacant government land exists in Bagunhatu area close to Surya Mandir in Sidhgora which will be developed as Women’s University. According to the DC, ““Education will receive a major boost with the setting up of the university. As per plans, the funds for the construction of the women’s university will be given by Union HRD ministry.

The proposal on land transfer would be submitted to the government as soon as possible. The university would come up on nearly 18 acres of land under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) of HRD ministry.

The DC said the exact time frame for construction of the university was yet to be ascertained. He added that after opening of the university, the area can be developed as an educational hub.

“Jamshedpur will emerge as education hub. There are also proposals for opening engineering institutes and polytechnic colleges in Sidhgora for which land will be earmarked soon,” the DC added.

The CM also announced a project to build advance market complexes at the abandoned bus depot of the erstwhile Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) in Agrico and at the Baridih bus depot.

“As per plan, the administration will take steps to free the Agrico bus depot (nearly an acre) and Baridih bus depot (over one acre) from encroachment so that state urban development may undertake construction of a modern market complex or mall on these structures,” said the CM.

The CM also ordered district administration to free nearly 10 acres of land in the densely populated urban slum, Chhyanagar (in Bhuiyandih), to pave way for the said projects. People residing in Chhayanagar will be shifted to houses built by the district administration under PMAY urban scheme before removing encroachment, he said.
