Jamshedpur, Aug 26: The first of its kind Public Square was dedicated to the citizens on Wednesday with virtual inauguration.

Named Bistupur Public Square has snack kiosks, two colourful fountains, a green buffer zone, separate corner for children,

selfie corner and benches for people to relax while shopping and roaming around.

On the occasion, Suraj Kumar, deputy commissioner, East Singhbhum, congratulated the people

who worked hard in making this a reality and said that this Public Square is a gift to the citizens and they must help maintain it.

He also said: � We should have a graffiti corner near the Bistupur Police Station and the Talwar Building in the times to come�.

M Tamil Vanan, SSP, East Singhbhum also thanked the team for the Public
Square and spoke on his expectation in terms of safety and security of the Public Square and the town.

Chanakya Choudhary, vice president (corporate services), Tata Steel, addressed all on the virtual platform and spoke on how this Public Square

will be a source of attraction for the citizens once the pandemic is over and how the citizens can help keep the now clean Public Square always clean and hygenic.

Tarun Daga, managing director, TSUISL, formally thanked all present on the virtual platform, all those who worked for the successful completion of the Public Square and he also spoke on how we have to join hands to help the administration and the people who are working hard in this difficult time.

Located at Jamshedpur�s most important Bistupur Market area, the Bistupur Public Square, a joint effort by Tata Steel and Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited ( TSUISL) was conceptualised.

Main features of the Bistupur Public Square: Landscaped islands, Water fountains, Kids tot lots, Food hub, Avenue of trees, Intermediate seating clusters, Parking free zone,

Disabled friendly space, Public toilet, CCTV surveillance , Uniformity in uncluttered fa�ade, Wide pedestrian movement space, Under footpath drainage & utilities, On road bold signage, Bus stops at two extreme ends and Movement restriction through bollards.

An official of TSUISL said that � The Public Square is not open for the citizens as of now. Once the pandemic is over, we will have the Bistupur Public Square open to the citizens�.
