Jharkhand’s Bokaro to get international cricket stadium, JSCA inks MoU with SAIL BSL

Jharkhand’s third stadium to house 25k spectators 

Bokaro, June 25: Friday was a historic day for Bokaro as Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) signed a lease agreement with SAIL Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) for the construction of Jharkhand’s third International Cricket Stadium, on June 25. Bokaro will become third city in Jharkhand after Jamshedpur and Ranchi to feature in International cricket map once the stadium is ready. The proposed stadium will be built in Balidih area of Bokaro and will also be the first stadium to be constructed in SAIL township.

The proposed stadium will not only change the face of sports in the state of  Jharkhand by catering to the growing requirements of state/district players but will also place Jharkhand at par on the sports map with the states having three International Stadiums.

It will also pave the way for organizing simultaneous preparatory/skill/conditioning camps for Men and Women cricketers which will give a boost to Cricket in the state of Jharkhand.

Honorary Secretary of JSCA Sanjay Sahay and Bokaro Steel Plant’s assistant manager SR Patra signed the lease agreement for land. 

BSL management has provided 20 acre land on lease for 33 years to JSCA for the construction of international Cricket Stadium which will house 25,000 spectators. 

Present on the occasion former BCCI Secretary and former JSCA President Amitabh Choudhary said, like Ranchi the upcoming cricket stadium in Bokaro will be built in record time. ‘JSCA will become the only association in the country to have three International cricket stadium. BSL will also be the only SAIL unit to have International Stadium which would create a better environment for cricket in the region.’

Also present were Amarendu Prakash, director in-charge, Bokaro Steel Plant, Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, JSCA President Dr Nafis Akhtar and other senior officials of the company and JSCA.
