Jharkhand: Vegetable trader’s driver masterminds Shivam Bus robbery, four arrested

Ranchi, Jan 28: In a significant breakthrough, the Ranchi Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has successfully unraveled the mystery behind the Shivam bus robbery that occurred on January 16 in Nawadih, Dasham Fall police station area. Shockingly, the driver of a vegetable trader’s vehicle has been identified as the mastermind behind the entire orchestrated incident.

The SIT, acting on the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha, apprehended four individuals involved in the robbery. The arrested culprits have been identified as Shahzan Ansari, Shamim Ansari, Zabiullah Mian alias Zabiullah, and Iftekhar Alam alias Robert, all with a history of prior criminal activities.

During the late Sunday evening press conference, SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha disclosed that the police had recovered the stolen amount, totaling Rs 11.61 lakh, along with 18 live bullets and various other items from the arrested criminals.

The incident, which took place on a bus traveling from Kolkata to Ranchi, involved armed criminals who targeted three vegetable traders, robbing them of Rs 18 lakh at gunpoint. The bus, operated by Shivam, was en route to Ranchi and reached Nawadih on the morning of January 16, situated along Ranchi Tata Highway in the Dasham police station area.

What adds a twist to the case is that the criminals had been discreetly observing the targeted vegetable traders during their journey. They had strategically positioned themselves as ordinary passengers on the bus, biding their time until an opportune moment.

Upon reaching a secluded stretch of Ranchi Tata Highway, the criminals, already on board the bus, brandished weapons to seize control. The nefarious group then made off with bags filled with money from the unsuspecting vegetable traders before disembarking and fleeing on foot. (w/nm)
